Meet your guide inside of Gambir Station and kick off a day of exploring the best of Gambir area. The station that connects Jakarta with others cities in Java has its appearance evolved several times in history. Opposite of the station there is Immanuel Church which was established to honour the first king of the Netherlands, King Willem. Stop by to see its elegant architecture. Make your way to Pancasila Building where Ir. Soekarno, the first President of Indonesia delivered the state’s ideology. Learn the significance of this former colonial legislature assembly to the nation’s independence. The next destination is Buffalo Field. Despite of it’s name you won’t find the animal here as they were driven out when the city expanded. Listen to the story of the new city development. Enjoy the greenery inside the park where a statue commemorating freedom of the eastern province is stood tall.

The 160 metres empirical Ministry of Finance building is the next stop that cannot be missed in this itinerary. It was constructed when the Governor General Daendels shifted the capital city to Gambir and were planned as the civic centre. Passing by the Centre Post Office and the Jakarta Art Hall which are the manifestation of the new city transformation in terms of economic and cultural during the colonial era. As you wander inside of the post office you’ll find a heaven for stamp collectors. At the end of the tour you will be exhibited with the splendor of two religious venues: Istiqlal Mosque and neo-gothic Cathedral Church. As the mosque name means independence there are symbol of Indonesian independence in it to be explored. The serenity of the church ambiance completes your journey in Gambir.
