    Chinatown of Jakarta has a very long history which began during the Dutch East India Company occupation in the archipelago. In the past, the Company allocated the area for Chinese precinct so that they would not lived inside the city walls of Batavia (old name of the city during Dutch occupation) after racial riot happened in 1740.

    We will explore various places which are the silent witnesses of the existence of Chinese community during the ancient time. The culture is still standing strong. Visit the oldest Chinese temple in Jakarta which has been established since 1650 and a Peranakan “mansion” which gives an overview of how did they live. The community have lived in Batavia for centuries and the culture has assimilated well with  Indonesian culture which is reflected in its language, architecture, trade, and cuisine.

    Glodok Chinatown memiliki riwayat sejarah yang sangat panjang di Batavia yang dimulai saat pendudukan VOC di Batavia. Dahulu kawasan Glodok dialokasikan VOC kepada masyarakat Tionghoa untuk ditempati agar masyarakat Tionghoa tidak berdagang di dalam tembok kota Batavia. Semenjak saat itu masyarakat Tionghoa mulai menjalankan roda bisnisnya di kawasan Glodok hingga saat ini.

    Kita akan jelajahi berbagai tempat yang menjadi saksi bisu eksistensi masyarakat Tionghoa pada zaman dulu yang masih kokoh berdiri dengan melihat Kelenteng tertua di Jakarta yang sudah berdiri sejak tahun 1650 dan “mansion” peranakan yang memberi gambaran tentang kehidupan komunitas Tionghoa di perantauan. Masyarakat Tionghoa sudah bermukim di Batavia sejak berabad-abad lalu dan budayanya sudah berasimilasi dengan budaya Indonesia yang terefleksikan dalam bahasa, arsitektur,perdagangan, dan juga kulinernya.

    Allowed number of participants :  1 – 17 Pax. If more than 17 pax, please contact us to customize the tour.

    Please reserve by the latest 5 days before the tour day. If there is any request for urgent tours please contact us via Whatsapp/Email.

    Meeting time in the website in only for reference. The time can be requested for another hours (ex. 08:00, 09:00) as long as it still available

    Please prepare/bring an umbrella to anticipate of raining or sweltering

    The tour will still run either sunny or rainy conditions.

    Please take care of your personal belonging, all forms of lost are not the responsibility of the organizer.

    The tour cannot be cancelled or refunded.

    The number of participants can be increased (at an additional price), but cannot be reduced.

    The itinerary might be adjusted at any time depending on the situation and conditions on the field.

    This tour is not recommended for wheelchairs and strollers.

    Children must be accompanied by an adult.
