English Speaking Walking Tour – A Coffee Path : Started With the Dancing Goats – 25 November

Rp 250.000

Did you know that the culture of drinking coffee was discovered accidentally with the help of the dancing goats in Ethiopia? The goats became energetic and restless after consuming the coffee fruit. The shepherd, Khaldi, tried to taste the fruit and shared his discovery to the public. From the moment, coffee became an important energy drink for mankind.

Coffee consumption is now an integral part of everyday culture for many Indonesians. Coffee plants are cultivated in various regions across the country, from Aceh to Papua. Indonesian coffee comes in various varieties, textures, and aromas. For example, Toraja coffee will offer a different aroma on the palate compared to Flores coffee.

Even in the concrete jungle of Jakarta, traditional methods of processing, roasting, and brewing coffee are still preserved. Kopi Tubruk, made by slowly boiling coarse coffee grounds to produce a strong brew, is one of the traditional brewing methods. Additionally, the relatively new third-wave coffee culture, which emphasizes scientific approaches to coffee processing, has recently been introduced to the country, particularly in urban areas.

An interesting fact is that coffee plants didn’t originate in Indonesia; they were brought here from various parts of the world around three hundred years ago by the Dutch East India Company (VOC), that aimed to be global player in the coffee industry.

Join us on the “Coffee Path : Started With the Dancing Goats” tour. You’ll get to taste different types of coffee and learn about the history of coffee worldwide and in Indonesia.

See you soon, Walk Indies Friends!
